Host a Hands On Workshop!
Are you interested in having your front yard turf removed and replaced with low water use sustainable landscape at no cost to you? As a Hands On Workshop host, your front yard will serve as an outdoor classroom for neighbors and community members to receive hands-on experience with a turf replacement project. Attendees will learn how to remove turf, lay mulch, install irrigation, capture rain water, and install California-friendly and native plants. In return for your hospitality, your new sustainable landscape will be provided free of charge.
Workshop Host Requirements.
The following requirements must fulfilled in order to host a hands on workshop:
Must own the property and must be serviced by LADWP
Access to front yard (no fence or community gate)
500 – 1,500 square feet of living turf
Accessible restroom on site
Must not have been a prior recipient of a turf rebate program
Must not have been a host to a previous Hands On Workshop with LADWP
Ability to host on two consecutive weekends
Ability to maintain a new garden for at least 5 years
Existing, working automated irrigation system
Room for 20-30 workshop participants

Complete the qualification form online and provide contact information.
You will receive an email from a program representative verifying your information and setting up a call within 5 business days.
If your property seems eligible, a site visit will be scheduled for a program representative to survey your property.
During the site visit, we will review you interest and eligibility as well as terms of agreement.
Upon acceptance as a host, confirm HOW dates, and sign all applicable forms.
